“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss.
On September 18, 2024, the Ilorin Global Shapers, in collaboration with the @Abuja Global Shapers Hub, made a meaningful contribution to LGEA Oke Adini Primary and Nursery School in Ilorin. As part of the #1000BooksOfSummer project—an initiative by Tara Fun Stories—we donated 100 new books and a brand-new bookshelf. This gesture wasn’t just about filling a shelf but about opening up a world of stories, dreams, and possibilities for the students.
To further empower these young learners, we also provided over 400 school notebooks, thanks to the generous support of the @Dele Shittu Foundation’s Back to School Project. These materials will help students overcome the challenge of high school supply costs, ensuring they are equipped for learning.
The donation was received with great excitement from both the students and staff. Beyond the books, we took the time to read with the students, encouraging them to dive into the magic of reading. This event was a reminder of the transformative power of literacy—unlocking doors to knowledge and creating lifelong learners who can shape their future.
Our efforts are rooted in a shared belief that education and literacy are essential for building a better tomorrow. No child should be left behind, and through initiatives like this, we are working to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the resources they need to succeed.
This event marks another milestone for the #1000BooksOfSummer project, which aims to inspire children to fall in love with reading and learning. By expanding access to books and providing essential school supplies, we are contributing to the larger goal of empowering young minds through education.
Let’s continue this journey to promote literacy, inspire curiosity, and build a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive through learning.
Together, we can ensure that the next generation has the tools to grow and succeed.
